Republican Duane Snow served one term on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors representing the Samuel Miller Magisterial District. He was defeated by his opponent Liz Palmer in the November 5, 2013 election. [2]

Biography

Duane Snow was born in Charlottesville. Snow’s grandfather founded a "market garden" in 1912 which eventually grew to become Snow's Garden Center.

In 1970, Duane Snow returned to Charlottesville to work for the family business after graduating from Brigham Young University in Utah. He retired from the company in 2005. In April 2009, he and his wife Rena completed an 18-month missionary trip to the Philippines. Snow decided to run shortly after his return.

Before seeking office, prior public service in the community included a term on the Architectural Review Board, service on the board of the local chapter of the American Heart Association, as well as ten years on the Virginia State Agricultural Council. He also co-hosts a radio show about gardening and landscaping that airs Saturday mornings on WINA.

As of 2011, Snow joined the MPO Policy Board.

[4] His oppoonent, Liz Palmer, raised $20,461 in campaign contributions between April and May 29, 2013. [5] That included $2,500 from both the Zobrist Law Group and Richard M. Hewitt. In the July and August period, Snow raised $13,489 in donations. [6]
