David Lee
Dr. David Tawei Lee (b. 1949) is a Taiwanese diplomat.

He received both of his graduate degrees in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia.[1][2] Lee lived with local artist Frances Brand while he completed his studies. After graduating, the increasing tension between China and Taiwan inspired Lee to advocate for Taiwan in the United States.[2]
Career
In 1996, he returned to Taiwan to begin diplomatic work. He served as Taiwan's senior representative to several countries including Australia, Canada, the member states of the European Union, and the United States. He was the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Taiwan from 2016 until 2018.[2] He also served as the Secretary-General of the Taiwanese National Security Council until 2020. Lee is currently the Secretary-General to Taiwan’s first female president.[1]
