Warner David "Dave" Chapman is a graduate of the U.Va School of Law[1] and has been the Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Charlottesville[2] since 1994.

Chapman declined to run for re-election in 2017, saying he "doesn't want to be that person who stayed too long."[3]

Election history

Chapman's first election in Charlottesville was a defeat of Steve Deaton for the Democratic party's nomination in the 1993 caucus. He won office with no general election opponent.[citation needed] Chapman ran unopposed until the the 2013 Democratic primary, when Chapman again defeated Deaton. [4]
