Cynthia L. "Cindi" Burket was the Republican candiate in the Scottsville District special election for the Albemarle Board of Supervisors in the 2013 special election.[1] She lost to her opponent, Jane Dittmarr on November 5, 2013. [2]
Political Background
Burket served as chair of the Albemarle County Republican Committee until she chose to run for supervisor.[3] She was president of the Albemarle-Charlottesville Republican Women's League in 2008.[4]
In 2013, Burket was one of ten candidates for appointment as interim Scottsville District Representative on the Albemarle Board of Supervisors following the June 2013 resignation of Christopher Dumler.[5] William "Petie" Craddock was ultimately appointed to the seat.[6]
In 2011, Burket ran unsuccessfully for the At-Large seat on the Albemarle County School Board against Ned Gallaway.[4]
Education
Burket earned a B.S. in Law Enforcement and Correction from Penn State University and a M.A. in Public Administration with a concentration in Criminal Justice from George Mason University in 1974 and 1981, respectively.[7]
2013 election
Burket faces Jane Dittmar in the special election on November 5, 2013. [citation needed] She has raised $7,070 in campaign funds through August 21, 2013. [8]
