Stephen Craig Brown served as the Charlottesville City Attorney from 2001[1] to 2018. [citation needed] He left the position in early 2018 to become city attorney of Manassas, Virginia. [2][dead link] He was succeeded by John Blair. Brown began his tenure with the City of Manassas on February 20, 2018. [3] [4]
As City Attorney for the City of Charlottesville, Craig supervised and managed three attorneys and two paralegals, serving more than 900 City of Charlottesville employees and the City Council. He worked his way up from Assistant City Attorney in 1985 to City Attorney in 2001.[1]
