The Charlottesville Sports and Social Club is a private organization that provides sports leagues and other social activities for its members.

History

The organization began play in Fall of 2006, running only one sport, kickball, at Azalea Park. As of January 2010, the league has had over 2400 unique players and over 5000 individual registrations.

As of 2022 the organization has 4 part-time employees.

Leagues

Depending on the season in session, the following sports may be offered:

  • dodgeball
  • football
  • kickball
  • sand volleyball
  • soccer
  • wallyball
  • wiffleball

Sports are always run in a league format as opposed to a 'pick-up' style. Members pay a registration fee for each league they join. Aside from that, there is no cost to being a member of the club.

The league makes use of various facilities around town, including Rives Park, Azalea Park, Tonsler Park, Washington Park, Quarry Park, Venable Elementary School, Sutherland Middle School, and The Park @ UVA.

Activities

The organization also offers outings in addition to the leagues, such as organizing trips to Foxfield, tubing excursions, and professional sporting events.
