The first action of the new Council was to pass a resolution by which the city would take over and care for the graves of veterans of the Civil, Spanish-American, and World Wars who are buried in local cemeteries.
A petition, presented by Gilbert Campbell for the City Beautification Commission and endorsed by spokesman for the various civic organizations, which would forbid merchants placing crates of fruit and poultry on sidewalks and would require the city to cove garbage trucks while hauling papers and the like, was held over for investigation.
In 1932, council replaced City Manager H. A. Yancey with Seth Burnley.
