A group formed for the cultivation and appreciation of the orchid family. While generally they are more focused on cultivation, they've recently become more active in conservation of native orchids through their support of the restoration of Pinkerton Slash, one of the few sites for Purple Fringeless Orchid (Platanthera peramoena) in the County.   They also host an orchid show once per year at Fashion Square Mall.

The Charlottesville Albemarle Orchid Society is a group formed in 1975 for the cultivation and appreciation of the orchid family.
