Center II is the name of the proposed 400-student facility sought by the Albemarle County School Board. The project had originally been slated to be built near Monticello High School but will instead be built at the school system's Lambs Lane Campus.

As the FY23 budget process began, the cost estimate increased to $32 million with a hope of beginning instruction in the fall of 2023. [1]

ACPS had originally been planning to ask for 15 acres of county-owned land near Monticello High School for the site. [2]

The School Board voted on November 14, 2019 to formally ask Supervisors to transfer the land. [3]

The Albemarle Planning Commission discussed the $27 million facility at its meeting on June 23, 2020 and found the project is consistent with the Albemarle Comprehensive Plan. [4]

New Academy location

The School Board will move the Math, Engineering and Science Academy and the Health and Medical Science Academy to the center when it opens. [5]
