Burnley-Moran Elementary School is a fully accredited child-centered school serving approximately 300 students in preschool through grade four. The student/teacher ratio is 20:1. [1] Their mascot is a bobcat.[1]

Burnley-Moran Elementary School is located in the north-eastern portion of Charlottesville.


History

Burnley-Moran was built in 1954. It takes its name from the first two women to head Charlottesville schools. Carrie Burnley was principal of McGuffey School for twenty-eight years, and Serepta Moran was principal of Venable School for twenty-one years. The mascot is the bobcat. [2]

The school campus is 15 acres and has views of Monticello.[1] It is in walking distance of the Downtown Mall and the Rivanna Greenbelt Trail.[1]

Dawn LoCasale will become principal of the school for the 2011-2012 school year. [3]
