The Belle Mont Estate was a 551-tract of land what would later become much of the Belmont-Carlton neighborhood. [1] When its owner, Slaughter Ficklin, died in 1886, the property was sold to the Belmont Land Company and an urban grid system was developed.

Mansion

There was also a prominent mansion on the property, and it is often confused with a mansion near Keswick that carries the same name. What is now known as Belmont House is located at 759 Belmont Avenue. See that page for more information.
