Biographical Information

Andrew Baxter served as the chief of the Charlottesville Fire Department from 2015 to 2020. [1]

Baxter resigned on June 11, 2020. In a letter to fire department staff, Baxter wrote, “my values and professional ethics will not allow me to continue to work in the current leadership environment.”

City Manager Tarron Richardson named Emily Pelliccia as interim Charlottesville Fire Chief.[2]

Baxter was hired in late July to be chief operating officer at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville. [3] He only served in the position for year before leaving to become an independent consultant. [citation needed]

He is a member of the 5th and Avon Community Advisory Committee. [4]
