Alfred S. Thomas Jr. was sworn in as Charlottesville's police chief on May 23, 2016. [1]

Background

Before coming to Charlottesville, Thomas served as the police chief in Lexington, a post he was appointed to in 2010. He served for 20 years with the Lynchburg Police Department and spent five years in the United States Air Force. [1]
