Albemarle County School Board

The Albemarle County School Board is the governing body of Albemarle County Public Schools.

Current Membership

The board has seven elected members, six of which represent magisterial districts. A seventh seat is elected at-large.

Superintendent: Dr. Pam Moran

Chairman

The members select a Chair annually from among their members at the reorganization meeting each January. The current chair, Ron Price, announced that he will resign effective January 6, 2011[1].

2010 appointment

Brian Wheeler resigned from the school board on August 5, 2010, citing time constraints, family responsibilities and increased occupational duties. The timing allowed the board to appoint a replacement rather than hold an election. On September 9, 2010, the board selected four candidates to interview[2]:
