The Albemarle County Planning Commission is a seven-member body that provides guidance to the Board of Supervisors on issues of planning and development. Six of its members serve four-year terms and are appointed by each member of the Board of Supervisors. A seventh is elected at-large and serves a two-year term. One member is selected among the Commissioners to serve as chair.

Meetings are held on Tuesday nights beginning at 6:00 PM in [[Lane Auditorium]] at the [[Albemarle County Office Building]]. Members of the public may make a comment in the form of three-minute speeches at the start of every meeting. It is up to the Chair whether to take public comment during work sessions, though most generally do.


The Crozet Gazette reports Ann Mallek has appointed Tom Loach to the Albemarle County Planning Commission<ref>http://www.crozetgazette.com/CrozetGazette_12.08.pdf| published in Dec. 2007</ref>, taking the White Hall seat currently held by Duane Zobrist. Loach is an outspoken critic of the [[Crozet Master Plan]] who abandoned an bid for the White Hall seat on the Board of Supervisors.  Now he'll get the chance to weigh in on the plan when it comes back before the Planning Commission in 2009. He's lived in Crozet since 1989, and is a former president of the [[Crozet Community Association]].

The Albemarle County Planning Commission is an eight-member body that provides guidance to the Board of Supervisors on issues of planning and development.


Six of its members serve four-year terms and are appointed by each member of the Albemarle Board of Supervisors to represent a specific magisterial district.
