Efforts

The Central Virginia Electrical Cooperative approached the authority in January 2018 with a request for financial assistance for a plan to extend fiber to its customers in Albemarle County. The project is part of an effort the company is doing across its customer base, paid for in part by funding from the Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission. Initially CVEC asked for a $2.2 million incentive package, but lowered that amount to $550,000 when they went before the authority in September. [1]
