The AIDS/HIV Services Group (ASG) was established in 1986 by a group of citizens concerned about the lack of care available for people in the area living with HIV and AIDS. The organization was run by volunteers until 1988, when a grant from the City of Charlottesville in 1988 allowed ASG to hire a part-time coordinator of volunteers[1].

The AIDS/HIV Service Group is a participant in the 2010 Design Marathon sponsored by the Charlottesville Community Design Center.
