A. D. Dabney (1879-1955) was appointed Charlottesville’s Corporate Court Judge in 1911, a position he held for forty years.
Bio
Archibald Douglas Dabney was born in Albemarle County, the son of University law professor Walter D. Dabney. He attended law school at the University of Virginia, elected on June 14, 1904 to the Common Council on Charlottesville’s City Council, serving until later that year when he became Commonwealth’s Attorney at 25. In 1911 he was appointed Charlottesville’s Corporate Court Judge, a position he held for forty years. (source: Albemarle County Historical Society)
