801 Cherry Avenue is a vacant parcel on Cherry Avenue that McCarthy Building Companies is using to produce temporary exterior mock-ups for construction at the University of Virginia. A building permit, BN-15-0404, was issued by Charlottesville's Department of Neighborhood Development Services in late 2015.

The owner of the property is Meta Chisolm and Cherry Avenue Properties.

Work begun without a building permit from the city, and a stop work order was issued in August 2015. An application was subsequently applied for and issued by city officials. [citation needed]
