- March 2 – Charlottesville City Manager Tarron Richardson presented his $196.6 million operating budget and $35.3 million capital improvement program budget to City Council meeting. Public safety employees appeared during the matters from the public section to lobby for more funding. [14]
- March 12 – A fire broke out at Mallside Forest Apartments [16] [17]
- June 30 – Anticipated completion date for the Blue Ridge Tunnel [18]
- July 1 – Cale Elementary School will become known as Mountain View Elementary [19]
- October 26 – Trial is set for lawsuit against groups and individuals who organized the Unite the Right rally in August 2017. [20]
