On November 3 2009 elections will be held in Charlottesville and Albemarle County for state and local offices and representation.
Charlottesville government
City Council
Two at large seats on the City Council will be contested among four candidates. Two Democrats, incumbent and mayor Dave Norris, and Kristin Szakos are on the ballot with two independents, Bob Fenwick and Paul Long[1].
Sheriff
With the incumbent stepping down, Democrat James E. Brown III faces Paul J. Best
School board
Three incumbents, Edmund R. "Ned" Michie, Leah W. Puryear, Juandiego R. Wade run unopposed.
Uncontested races
Candidates for Commonwealth's Attorney, Warner D. "Dave" Chapman; Commissioner of Revenue, Raymond Lee Richards; and Treasurer, Jennifer J. Brown, all incumbent Democrats, are running unopposed.
Albemarle county government
Board of Supervisors
For seats on the Board of Supervisors from the Rio, Jack Jouett, and Samuel Miller magisterial districts[2].
School board
For seats on the Albemarle County School Board, also from the Rio, Jack Jouette, and Samuel Miller magisterial districts[2].
Virginia House of Delegates
For Virginia House of Delegates in the 57th, 58th, and 25th House Districts[3], which share Charlottesville and parts of Albemarle County.
57th District
Representing Charlottesville and parts of Albemarle, candidates are incumbent David Toscano (D) and Robert Brandon Smith III (I)
58th District
Representing parts of Albemarle, candidates are incumbent Rob Bell (R) and Cynthia Neff (D).
25th District
Representing parts of Albemarle, candidates are incumbent R. Steven "Steve" Landes (R) and Greg J. Marrow (D).
