::(a) Pursuant to Virginia Code § 24.2-222.1 and notwithstanding the provisions of City Charter Sec. 5(d) and Virginia Code § 24.2-222, the election of members of city council shall be held on the general election date in November of odd-numbered years, beginning in November, 2007, and biennially thereafter, in accordance with the following cycles:
:::(1) The election for the two (2) city council seats filled by the council election of May, 2006 shall be held in November, 2009 and every four (4) years thereafter; and,

On May 4, 2004 Charlottesville held elections for three seats on the City Council.

  • City Code: Sec. 2-35. - Election of city council at November general election. (As of July 19, 2004)[2]
