- At some point, the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission was created. [1]
- December - The Virginia Highway and Transportation Research Council (a cooperative organization sponsored jointly by the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation and the University of Virginia) begins research on the history of road and bridge building technology in Virginia.[2]
Deaths
- February 12 – Burnett Watson dies in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He briefly served as a corporal in World War I before being discharged and had his portrait photograph prominently included within the Holsinger Studio Collection.
