Events
- October 8 – University of Virginia President Edgar F. Shannon, Jr. announces formation of long-range planning committee to study the institution's educational and physical needs through 1975. [1]
- October 10 – Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Lyndon B. Johnson appears in Charlottesville as part of a five-day train trip through southern states. [2]
- October 27 – Black high school students protest at the Barracks Road Shopping Center and picketed Rose's after being refused service at the lunch counter. They leave after thirty minutes after the manager and treasurer of the Thomas Jefferson Corporation convince them they are on private property and not a city street. The students are accompanied by several adults such as NAACP president Eugene Williams, the Reverend James Hamilton of Mount Zion Baptist Church, and Sarah Patton Boyle. [3]
- November 18 – Eight people arrested in Charlottesville as part of a nationwide crackdown on illegal betting on football lotteries [4]
- November 21 – Charlottesville City Council considers a rezoning request from the Optimist Club for a clubhouse for the Optimist's Boys Club on Bainbridge Street. [5]
