Events

  • July 1 – In force on this day, The Code of Virginia as Amended to Adjournment of General Assembly 1924, was published by the The Michie Company. Prepared by company founder and Supreme Court of Appeals reporter Thomas Johnson Michie, the "Michie Code", as it became known, was supplemented after each session of the General Assembly, and a new edition was published in 1930, 1936, and 1942.
  • November 24 – John A. Brown shot and killed Henry Robertson when the latter came to the door of Brown's Schuyler Moon house near Scottsville. Robertson asked for food and would not leave when asked. Brown was arraigned and released on bail of $500. Scottsville Mayor Jackson Beal served as coroner. [1]
  • December 15 – At a joint session of Congress, Edwin Anderson Alderman, president of the University of Virginia, eulogized Woodrow Wilson, the nation’s 28th president, who had died February 3. Alderman and Wilson grew up together in Wilmington, N.C., and remained lifelong friends.
