- Albemarle County divided into magisterial districts.
- Scottsville suffered one of the worst floods in its history.
- Major industries in the Town of Charlottesville were the Charlottesville Wollen Mills, R. F. Harris & Sons, a business that manufactured and supplied farm equipment, and Charlottesville Milling and Manufacturing Co., a wagon and carriage manufacturer.

April 20 – William Peter Dickerson (1870–1943), African-American physician and banker, was born in Keswick, Albemarle County.[1] [2]
