In November, the act establishing the town of Charlottesville was passed by the Assembly of Virginia, when the name Charlottesville (in honour of Queen Charlotte, wife of George III.) first appeared. Charlottesville was founded by an Act of the Assembly as the Albemarle County seat.[1]
