William C. Scott IV focuses his practice at Michie Hamlett entirely on domestic relations law, including divorce, equitable distribution of property, custody, and child and spousal support. He graduated from the University of Virginia and from the George Mason University School of Law in 1994. Scotty handles cases primarily in the Charlottesville area; however, he tries cases as far away as Lynchburg, Richmond, Roanoke, Harrisonburg, Northern Virginia, and other areas of the state, and also handles appeals to the Virginia Court of Appeals.
Scotty has been with the firm since January 1996. He previously served as Law Clerk to the Circuit Court of the City of Norfolk, Virginia. He is a past chairman of the Family Law Section of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and a current member of the Board of Governors of the Family Law Section of the Virginia State Bar. He is also a frequent lecturer in CLE courses.
