White Hall Vineyards was established in 1992 by Tony and Edie Champ, who researched California wine-making before establishing a wine-making style that respects the unique land quality, or terroir, of Albemarle County. The winery won Virginia's Governor's Cup in 1997 and 1998[1].

The business closed in 2025. [2]
