The Board of Visitors ("BoV") is the 16- member governing body of the University of Virginia appointed by the Governor of Virginia.
In 1926, Mary-Cooke Branch Munford became the third woman ever to serve on the board.

Membership
Each member is appointed for a term of four years and may be reappointed for one additional term. The board can choose to elect a student as a nonvoting participant for a period of one year.[1]
