Route
2011 changes
As of March 2011, the MPO staff recommends two changes in the route. In downtown Charlottesville to go from the Belmont Bridge onto Garrett Street, using the railroad underpass at 4th Street, to Water Street to West Main Street. In the County near Monticello, travelers heading west will use the tunnel under Route 53 to get to Route 20, avoiding commuter traffic completely. Eastbound riders will stay on Route 20 to the signal at 53, and take 53 to the trailhead at the arboretum to access the Saunders-Monticello Trail.[1]
