- 1918 – 1918 flu pandemic in Charlottesville-Albemarle: Forty-one-year-old Bruce Hackett (b. 1877) was the first Spanish influenza death in Albemarle County. A carpenter, he lived near Scottsville.
- 1959 – A tornado came through Ivy killing eleven people, including ten from one family.
- 2006 – During the kickoff of the University’s $3 billion campaign, The Board of Visitors announced the renaming of the half-mile road connecting Massie Road with the U.S. 250 Bypass. At the kickoff dinner, Thomas F. Farrell II, rector of the Board, introduced a resolution honoring Leonard Sandridge for his long career of service and dedication to the University.
- 2020 – Tarron Richardson ended his tenure as Charlottesville's City Manager after a 16-month tenure.
