- 1865 – Mary-Cooke Branch Munford is born in Richmond.
- 1938 – Fredrick W. Twyman, former mayor, a member of the present city commission, and long a leader in civic and commercial development, died at 10:35 o’clock this morning at his home on Rugby Road, after an extended illness.
- 1950 – Gregory Swanson, the first African American to gain admission to the University of Virginia, registering for classes.
- 1970 – Farmington listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
