- 1918 – Albert Edward Walker, a well-know resident here for the past 12 years, and a newspaper writer of some note, died a premature death due to Bright's disease at the home of his father-in-law, Robert P. Valentine, East High Street, in the 52nd year of his age.
- 1923 – Adolph Russow, some weeks ago the victim of an accident at the Woolen Mills, occasioned by the falling of an elevator in which he was riding at the time, died at a local hospital (aged 72).
- 1931 – Rufus W. Holsinger, a prominent Charlottesville citizen in the early 20th century known for his work as a photographer, died at his home on Wertland Street after an extended illness.
