- 1799 – The Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Virginia, authorized the Masonic Lodge in the town of Milton and the county of Albemarle, by the name of Widow Son's Lodge.
- 1935 – Montgomery "Bird" Woods, architect and donor of 410 acres of land for William S. D. Woods Natural Heritage Area, was born.
- 1938 – Charlottesville City Council adopts an ordinance charging "foreign merchants" a $250 license of fee to display merchandise. Foreign is defined as anyone not a citizen of Charlottesville. This was a request from Fred Quarles, a director of the Retail Merchant's Association.
- 1944 – Joseph H. Brant is named as Director of Fundamental Research at the Institute of Textile Technology.
- 1963 – Charlottesville Democratic Committee adopted a requirement that its members sign a loyalty oath to the party.
- 1963 – Six men complete a 24-hour stay in a fallout shelter built in the city court building.
- 1988 – City Council passes resolution authorizing $220,000 in transfer to CRHA for Omni Hotel.
