- 1903 – A special meeting of the Charlottesville City Council took place. Dubbed "a spicy meeting of the council" by the Daily Progress, City Engineer C.L. DeMott comments that the city is run by the street railway company. Mayor J. Samuel McCue said that might have been true of a different Council.
- 1970 – The Lindsay family, owners of The Daily Progress, announced a sale to the Worrell Newspaper group. Published daily since September 14, 1892, the paper was founded by James Hubert Lindsay and his brother Frank Lindsay. The Lindsay's family owned the paper for 78 years.
