- 1771 – Thomas Jefferson moves into temporary quarters at Monticello while the new estate is completed.
- 1922 – Thomas J. Williams, Charlottesville’s Fire Chief, was one of the oldest fire chiefs in active service in the United States at the time of his death, aged 90.
- 1931 – The Paramount Theater originally opened on this Thanksgiving Eve in the Greek Revival style building on Main Street. (The first nation-wide Thanksgiving was proclaimed on November 26, 1789 by George Washington. The contemporary date of the fourth Thursday of November was set in 1941 by federal legislation.)
