- 1834 – Dr. Wilson Cary Nicholas Randolph was born in Charlottesville, Virginia.
- 1935 – After an early afternoon snow, a blinding snowstorm from the Northwest swirled through the City at 9:30 o’clock, lasting for more than a half hour. The cold winds sent the mercury down to 2 degrees above zero during the night, a drop of 25 degrees - the coldest December weather recorded in the area in the previous eighteen years.
- 1937 – Thanksgiving Day: According to a Daily Progress article, food prices were lower than they had been the year before.
