• 1905 – The Baptist General Association (Colored) of Virginia held its annual session at First Baptist Church (colored) on West Main Street.
• 1942 – The first course of the School of Military Government opened at the University of Virginia.
• 1963 – Women's suffrage activist Sarah Mason Sandridge "Sadie" Matthews died in Charlottesville. She was buried in Riverview Cemetery.
• 1991 – The Dave Matthews Band played its first official paid show at a warehouse on South Street in downtown Charlottesville.
