  • 1862James A. Leitch a physician, former mayor of Charlottesville and Civil War surgeon who was at the first Battle of Bull Run, died at his home on East High, after contracting pneumonia while serving in the Confederate Army.
  • 1907Alcohol: Thirteen years before national prohibition began, Charlottesville went "dry" when city residents cast their vote and passed a local option law to make the manufacture, distribution, importation, and sale of alcoholic beverages prohibited within the city limits.
  • 2015 – First game of the Charlottesville Tom Sox against New Market. The home field is Charlottesville High School.
