• 1941 –Edward A. Joachim died at age 70. He was actively engaged in business in Charlottesville for over 40 years, during which time he took keen interest in civic affairs.
• 1972 – Hurricane Agnes struck Scottsville with disastrous results. Bruce's Drugstore on Valley and West Main Streets went under more than 12 feet of water as the ensuing flood crested at thirty-four feet.
