- 1861 – Within hours of the First Battle of Manassas (Bull Run), the first of the wounded Confederate soldiers began arriving at Charlottesville's railroad depot. During the Civil War, the Rotunda at the University of Virginia, the town hall and the courthouse, as well as nearby homes and hotels were converted into a makeshift hospital complex called the Charlottesville General Hospital. It treated more than 22,000 wounded soldiers between 1861 and 1865.
- 1945 – Jackson Price Burley died. A distinguished educator, church worker, and community leader - in 1949 the city of Charlottesville built a high school and named it in honor of him.
- 1952 – Charlottesville's most prolific benefactor, Paul Goodloe McIntire, passed away at the age of 92 at his home in New York City.
- 2019 – The Charlottesville City Council voted to drop Thomas Jefferson's birthday (April 13th) as a holiday. It added two other holidays.
- 2021 – The population of Albemarle County was estimated to be 114,424 by the Weldon Cooper Center. The population topped 100,000 for the first time in 2011.
