  • 1893 – At a Special Meeting of the Council held this Tuesday evening, a Resolution was passed that the City Hall be draped in Morning for 30 days in respect for the memory of the late Mayor R. F. Harris.
  • 1922 – 24.0 inches of snow fell. The Daily Progress reported “traffic by auto almost completely suspended and electric cars unable to run.” Dubbed “the Knickerbocker Storm,” to date, this is the largest recorded snowfall in Charlottesville history.
  • 1983Carrie Buck died in Waynesboro.
