- 1826 – Thomas Jefferson Randolph, the eldest son of Thomas Mann Randolph and Martha Jefferson Randolph (daughter of Thomas Jefferson) acquired his debt-ridden father's estate "Edgehill" (house, land and slaves) at auction.
- 1884 – Dedication of the Delevan Baptist Church. Located at 632 W. Main Street, this building will serve the congregation until 2007.
- 1925 – The Albemarle Telephone Company has had a busy year in the enlargement of its cable and telephone plant, said Mr. F. W. Twyman, president of the Company, when interviewed this morning by a Daily Progress reporter.
- 1962 – Charlottesville City Council unanimously adopted a new section of the city Building Code entitled: “Family Fallout Shelters.”
- 2019 – Hall of Fame college football coach George Welsh, who led Virginia into national prominence during the 1990s, died at 85. When Coach Welsh took over the program, the Cavaliers had only two winning seasons in the previous 29 years.
