- 2022 – Thomas George Theodose, football coach at Lane High School who presided over a 53-game winning streak from 1962 to 1967, died.
- 2023 – Charlottesville Christmas Bird Count (2023) was held. The Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is a national survey of winter bird populations of North America run by the National Audubon Society, occurs from December 14 to January 5 every year. It has been in existence since 1900; the Charlottesville count began in 1924.
