• 1774 – Explorer Meriwether Lewis was born at Locust Hill in Albemarle County (now Ivy). He co-led the Lewis and Clark Expedition and was appointed Governor of Upper Louisiana in 1806.
• 1965 – The Vinegar Hill neighborhood in Charlottesville was razed, displacing over 150 African American families and eliminating one of Charlottesville’s oldest Black neighborhoods.
