- 1803 – Chancellor Robert Livingston and James Monroe sign Louisiana Purchase Treaty in Paris at a cost of 15 million dollars, doubles the size of the USA.
- 1902 – Virginia Constitutional Convention, 1901-1902: After lengthy debate, the suffrage proposal passed by a vote of 67 to 28. The 1902 Constitution, which severely restricting suffrage among a large numbers of blacks and working-class whites, remained in effect until July 1, 1971.
- 2020 – Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society executive director C. Thomas Chapman was hired.
