- 1812 – First meeting of Charlottesville Lodge No. 90, a Masonic lodge in Charlottesville; it remained active until March 31, 1821.
- 1913 – A group of Charlottesville businessmen gathered at Timberlake’s to establish the Charlottesville Chamber of Commerce. Judge A. D. Dabney became its first president.
- 1985 – An industrial fire at the Greenwood Chemical Company kills four workers and leads to a major investigation.
- 2011 – The Charlottesville City Council voted to approve a request to designate the Jefferson School as an individually protected property.
