- 1804 – Mary "Polly" Jefferson Eppes, daughter of Thomas Jefferson, died at age 25.
- 1861 – The Monticello Guard, Albemarle Rifles, Southern Guard, and Sons of Liberty formed at the Charlottesville Court House, beginning the 19th Virginia Infantry's service in the Civil War.
- 1861 – The Virginia Secession Convention voted to leave the Union; Valentine Wood Southall served as a delegate.
- 1973 – Miller School of Albemarle was added to the Virginia Landmarks Register.
- 2017 – James Willy Jones was recognized as the first African-American member of the Charlottesville Police Department.
