Talk:Christopher L. Fowler

I am very interested in the second paragraph of this article, as it seems to imply that the port of Pireus was at one point operated by the Rivanna Navigation Company which would be a great connection between the two subjects to detail in their respective pages and may point the way towards other hidden aspects of the area's history. User:Jmh6d, whenever you have a spare moment to think on it, would you potentially be able to recall where the information on David W. Fowler and his charge at Pireus came from? I've tried to research the matter on my own but have thus far been unsuccessful. Welder20 (talk) 01:09, 27 November 2023 (EST)

I added a citation to the information. This is a good example as to why citations are important...they provide an important roadmap to the research process OF OTHERS. ~ Jmh6d (talk) 22:34, 27 November 2023 (EST)
Thank you as always for your timely aid with this matter, Jmh6d! The reason why this particular connection is so interesting to me is because I had previously thought the Rivanna Navigation Company's activities were confined to below Milton as per the company's charter and founding documents – it probably should have been assumed that the organization's range of operations stretched upriver over time, but the confirmation was nonetheless fascinating to me. You make a very good point on the importance of sourcing one's information with citations in any article. I myself am often guilty of saving citations for last on the pages I am working on and then forgetting to add them altogether; perhaps these next weeks would be a good time for me to go back to those pages and fill in the gaps.
